Opportunities for Children Under 15: Opportunities for very young children are coordinated thru Little Helping Hands. Opportunities for children 8 - 14 are available only with adult supervision. Opportunities for Groups: One-day opportunities for groups are coordinated by our
volunteer coordinator. Easy to schedule group opportunities include property maintenance projects such as landscaping and clearing brush, painting, power-washing and similar tasks. If scheduled months in advance, groups can help with one-day events. After your group project, we can arrange some play time with our service dogs in training.
Opportunities to Volunteer with your Dog: Trained and certified therapy dogs and their handlers visit schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals and more.
Join our team of volunteers who trim, plant flowers and help maintain our ranch.
Help with events and festivals: Join our team of event planners or volunteer to work at booths to spread the word about Austin Dog Alliance. Volunteers who represent us in public are part of our ambassador program. Link to more information about ambassador training.
Work with our service dogs: Opportunities exist to foster dogs for vacations, weekends or the 2 - 3 weeks when a dog first joins our program out of the shelter. We also have a dog care team that walks and exercises the service dogs. A 6 hour training course and a minimum commitment of 1.5 hours a week is required to join the dog care team.
